A Flower of Solidarity Blooming Under the Shadow of Violence

While contemplating how to respond to violence, I chose a book called "The Challenge of Feminism" by writer Jung Hee-jin. This book concludes with chapters on militarism and masculinity, global capitalism and masculinity, and the marketization of violence. It was interesting how it used the military as a subject to explain the role of women and the long history of violence, leading up to today's 'unprovoked violence.' The mechanism by which violence occurs, the idea that rights and obligations are not in conflict, and the explanation that women, as second-class citizens, have neither the right nor the obligation to become soldiers were refreshing. Throughout, this book criticizes a society that forces victimhood. In conclusion, it states that, with the exception of self-defense, the other party's wrongdoing cannot justify violence under any circumstances. The gaslighting phrase "It hurts because it's youth" comes to mind once again. Is pain a prerequisite for life? This is a book I want to read with my precious male and female acquaintances.
